Psi Beta is a National Honor Society in Psychology for Community and Junior Colleges. It is a national honor society for students enrolled in or majoring in Psychology. To be eligible for membership, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, or range in the top 35% of enrollment, "B" average in Psychology courses, and completion of one introductory Psychology course and 12 semester hours.

The four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappas Honor Society are Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship.  

Phi Theta Kappa was founded in 1918, and since 1924, has been continuously recognized as the official honor society for all community colleges in the U.S. by the American Association of Community Colleges.  PTK has established over 1,300 chapters in the U.S. and 10 countries, and has a roster of over 2.3 million members.

Among its benefits, Phi Theta Kappa membership offers transfer enhancements and assistance, leadership training, and scholarships with over 700 of their partner colleges; over 30 million dollars in scholarships have been awarded to PTK members.  Mesa students participate in the society by organizing and leading events on campus, doing community service, studying together and celebrating the academic success of their peers, participating in Honors in Action group research projects, and attending regional events.  Phi Theta Kappa membership is specially noted as an important hallmark for students applying for transfer to their undergraduate institutions.

Invitation to join the society is provided by the local chapter at Mesa:  Beta Beta Upsilon, which has celebrated over 30 years at Mesa College.  To join PTK at Mesa, students who are at least 18, have completed 12 units of college coursework, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply and receive an invitation to become a lifetime member. 

Members receive a pin and certificate of membership, the Phi Theta Kappa member designation on their transcripts and in the Mesa commencement program, wear special regalia at commencement, and have their names maintained in the National PTK database.
